In short

  • No account, no sign-in and no adverts.
  • No analytics or tracking. The app has no internet permission.
  • Your rooms, layouts, prices and notes are stored only on your phone.
  • An export leaves the phone only when you share it yourself through the Android share sheet or the print dialog.

Who is responsible

This policy is published by the publisher of Lighting Design Planner. It describes how the Android app handles information, as of version 1.0.0.

There is one contact address for support and for privacy requests: [email protected].

Data the app processes

Everything the app works with is typed in by you and kept on your device.

DataEntered byWhere it is kept
Room projects: name, purpose, width, length, ceiling height, finish and factorsYouOn the device, in the app’s private storage
Layouts and lights: names, positions, lumens, watts, colour temperature, beam angle, height, strip length, estimated pricesYouOn the device
Hours per day and days per year for the energy estimateYouOn the device
Electricity unit rateYouOn the device
Notes for the electricianYouOn the device
App settings: defaults and editor optionsYouOn the device

The app does not ask for a name, e-mail address, home address or any identifier. A room name or a note may contain personal information if you type it in; it is treated like all other content and stays on the device.

What is stored on your device

Everything in the table above is saved in the app’s private storage on your phone. Export files (PDF, PNG image, CSV) are written to the app’s cache folder when you ask for an export.

The app’s data is excluded from Android cloud backup.

What leaves your device

Nothing is sent by the app. It has no internet permission, no server, no analytics and no crash reporting.

Data leaves the device only when you share an export through the Android share sheet or the print dialog. The receiving app or device (for example e-mail, messaging, a cloud drive or a printer) is chosen by you and handles the file under its own policy.

The exports are a PDF project sheet, a PNG image of the plan and a CSV luminaire list, created on the device at your request. Each repeats that the figures are planning estimates for discussion with a qualified electrician.

Third parties

None. The app includes no software kit of any third-party service: no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting, no sign-in.

The app contains three links that open in your browser or e-mail app, outside the app: this privacy policy, a GOV.UK guidance page, and the contact address. What happens there is governed by your browser or e-mail app and the page you open.

Permissions

The app requests no Android permissions at run time. It has no permission for the internet, location, the camera, the microphone, contacts, storage or notifications.

The only permission entry in the release build is an internal one that the Android support library adds to every app so that other apps cannot call its internal components. It grants no access to anything and is never shown to you.

Sharing an export, printing and opening the three links are handed to Android and to the app you choose; they need no permission.

Keeping and deleting data

Your data stays on the device until you delete it. You can:

  • delete single rooms and layouts in the app;
  • delete everything at once with Settings → Delete all data;
  • uninstall the app.

The publisher holds no copy of your data and therefore cannot restore or delete it on request. If you write to the contact address about your data, the answer will be these instructions.

Children

Lighting Design Planner is a planning tool for adults and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.

Advertising and payments

There are no adverts, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.

This website

This website (lightingplanstudio.sbs) is separate from the app. It sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts; its fonts and images are served from the site itself. It has no forms.

As with any website, the server that delivers these pages receives the technical details of each request, such as the IP address, the time and the page asked for, and the hosting provider may record them in server logs.

If you write to [email protected], we receive your e-mail address and whatever you put in the message, and use them to answer you.

Changes and contact

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, for example by adding any feature that uses the internet, the policy will be updated here and the date at the top will change.

Questions about this policy: [email protected].
